Date: 14th August 2022
Location: Hapta Kangjeibung, Imphal to Cherry Blossom Ground, Mao, Manipur
As the Meckley Royal Riders, we were privileged to participate in the monumental 75th India Independence Ride organized by the Manipur Police Department on 14th August 2022. This event was not just about celebrating India's independence; it was a platform to forge bonds of camaraderie among riders from all corners of Manipur. We received a gracious invitation from the Additional DGP of the Manipur Police Department, emphasizing the significance of community engagement and collaboration. Joined by over 30 riders clubs from the hills and valleys of Manipur, we witnessed an overwhelming turnout, with more than 1000 riders converging to commemorate India's Independence.
In the midst of the jubilant atmosphere, we had the honor of being acknowledged by the Chief Minister of Manipur, N. Biren Singh, who presented us with mementos and ceremoniously hoisted the national flag, symbolizing the deep-rooted importance of the event to the people of Manipur. Our journey from Hapta Kangjeibung, Imphal to the scenic Cherry Blossom Ground in Mao was more than just a ride; it was a pilgrimage of unity and solidarity. Upon our arrival, we were warmly embraced by the local community, reflecting the spirit of hospitality and inclusivity that defines Manipur.
The day unfolded with a delightful lunch gathering at Mao, where we replenished our energy and engaged in meaningful interactions with fellow riders. However, the true essence of the event transcended mere festivities; it was a testament to the unwavering spirit of compassion and support within the riding community. During our return journey, at around 4:00 pm, we encountered fellow riders facing mechanical challenges along the road. Without hesitation, we exemplified the true spirit of camaraderie by extending a helping hand, offering assistance, and ensuring that no rider was left behind. This act reinforced the bond that unites us beyond the confines of the road.
Reflecting on the 75th India Independence Ride, we are humbled by the opportunity to contribute to such a significant event. It stands as a beacon of unity, friendship, and shared values, encapsulating our collective aspirations in Manipur. It was not just a ride but a journey of solidarity, where each of us played a pivotal role in shaping memories that will be cherished for years to come. Together, we ride towards a brighter future, reaffirming the timeless adage that unity is strength.
